Today's old class style
class brought back the memories of junior high school. We read each sentences
on textbooks and explain the meaning of it one by one in the class, which made
me feel sleepy and boring. Though today's class was much more difficult and
meaningful compared to my junior high school English classes because we
could learn something about racism and politics, it still made me feel
different and weird having old style English class at ICU. Even in the spring
term and by the other ELA teachers, we never did reading one by one in front of
everyone. Moreover, I could see many of the students were feeling strong
pressures when they were answering questions at the front, because many of us
did not know the answers (which we should have known). This experience reminds
me the importance of always looking up 3B’s, Biography, Background and Bias,
before we start reading new article. Actually, doing a research about the
author were new thing to learn after entering ICU, because in past days, I
tended to just go to bookstores and see the tile and plot of books and chose
what I was interested in. I never cared about the author’s background before.
The first time of doing a research about the author was when I started writing
Book Report of the Great Gatsby. By checking Fitzgerald’s background, biography
and bias out, I could get the idea why Fitzgerald wrote that sentence here or
why he stacked so much
to the idea of “Rich girls cannot marry to poor boys.” This experience told me
how important and interesting to do a research about the author first. However,
I keep forgetting this idea, as I did not take a look at Gould of 3B’s.
Since we are having Rab’s ARW class,
many of the 3K members start thinking that they need to change. Every after
taking Rab’s class, I am frustrated myself and have a sense of shame. After
having the last ILC class, I really wanted to change myself and wrote a blog
post about me making more efforts and moving forward. However, before today’s
class, I did not do a research about Gould 3B’s. Furthermore, I also did not
put my hand up as much as possible as Rab asked us to do so. I was filled with
a feeling of inferiority. There are floods of people who are better than me. I
want to be the best at something, but even at ICU, I still cannot find any
particular field where seems that I can be the best. The good thing about
liberal art education is to be able to learn many different kinds of study so
that we can know that weather the particular field is interesting for me or
not. However, when people have too much choice, it is more difficult to decide
which one is the best for them. I also still do not have any ideas about my
major. Will the day that I will be able to choose my major ever come?
Now that was a real blog post and exactly what I am looking for. But that is what all your blog posts should have been like, especially as I showed many examples at the beginning of this semester.
